Turkey Jalapeño Burgers

Not going to lie, these are the best turkey burgers ever. They are super flavorful, healthy, and yes I'm going to say it, MOIST. They are a huge hit with all my clients and requested time and time again. They are easy to whip up any week night and a great alternative for anyone who doesn't want to eat red meat. You can serve with buns or just lettuce wraps which is my favourite way with the best corn salad ever and some homemade chipotle lime mayo. The perfect lunch for any day of the week or even for a backyard bbq with friends, now us vaccinated folks can start seeing friends again and life is becoming a little safer.

Here's what you will need:

1lb organic ground turkey, 93% fat (makes 4 burgers, double if you need more)

1 jalapeño, (de-seeded if you don't like spicy)

1/2 cup cilantro, diced

1/4 of a red onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup cotija cheese, crumbled

1 egg

1 clove garlic

2 tsp chili lime seasoning (Trader Joes), or just chili powder if you can't find that

1 tsp cumin

2 tsp maldon sea salt

1 tsp pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

In a pan, sauté your onions, garlic and jalapeño in a little olive oil until translucent and soft.

Add the onion mix in to a bowl and allow to cool a little before adding in your ground turkey, the cheese and diced cilantro plus the spices.

Add in your egg and mix until just combined but not over mixed or it will become tough when cooked.

Form your mix in to patties with your hands. This recipe makes 4, double if you are making more.

Heat a skillet with a little olive oil over medium/high heat. Once hot, place your turkey burgers in and sear to get some color on each side, about 2 minutes on each side should give it a nice crust.

Pop your skillet with the burgers in to your preheated oven for an extra 10-12 minutes until cooked through and juicy.

Serve with chipotle lime mayo, some butter lettuce, pickled jalapenos, avocado and a corn salad on the side and enjoy ever bite of this flavor explosion.
